External Relief Funding for Cultural Organizations
At Florida Humanities, we know this is a tough time for nonprofit cultural organizations across the Sunshine State. In response to the coronavirus crisis, Florida Humanities is compiling a list of external emergency funds for cultural organization in Florida in response to the anticipated effects of the coronavirus on under-resourced and vulnerable communities.
Below is a list of resources that may offer assistance as we navigate this new territory together.
This page will be updated as new information becomes available, so check back often. If you know other resources we can share, please email Lindsey Morrison at [email protected].
National Endowment for the Arts (NEA)
NEA Cares Act Grant: The National Endowment for the Arts will award funds to nonprofit arts organizations across the country to help these entities and their employees endure the economic hardships caused by the forced closure of their operations due to the spread of COVID-19.

U.S. Small Business Administration – Paycheck Protection Program (PPP)
The Paycheck Protection Program is an SBA loan that helps businesses keep their workforce employed during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis. The loan will be fully forgiven if the funds are used for payroll costs, interest on mortgages, rent, and utilities.
Association of Performing Arts Professionals (APAP)
APAP has developed a robust list of funding opportunities for performing arts organizations and continues to work alongside national partners to advocate for legislation that supports performing arts organizations, artists and arts workers.
Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) CARES Act Grants for Museums and Libraries
The goal of the FY2020 IMLS CARES Act Grants for Museums and Libraries program is to support the role of museums and libraries in responding to the coronavirus pandemic.
Local Community Foundations:
Florida’s 25 Community Foundations work together to promote philanthropy in our neighborhoods and throughout Florida. Each Florida community foundation is a nonprofit, tax-exempt charitable organization created by and for the people of a particular geographic area and overseen by Boards of Directors comprised of volunteer community leaders.
Please visit your local Community Foundation’s webpage to inquire about funding available for cultural organizations in resource to COVID-19.
Local Arts Agencies
Local Arts Agencies provide services, support, and programs for arts organizations, artists, and their local communities, and may have created emergency relief funding opportunities for their local communities. Please visit their websites to learn more about funding available within each agency.
