The Jacksonville Historical Society and the Jacksonville History Center present a lecture about the life and work of Augusta Savage as part of a Women's History Month Speaker Series. Born in Green Cove Springs, on February 29, 1892, Augusta Christine Fells Savage began creating sculptures from natural clay found in her backyard. She moved to Jacksonville in 1920 to support herself by sculpting busts of prominent blacks in the community,
