Event Date:

Inverness, FL 34450

Kathy Turner Thompson

Program Description:

Founder, Executive Director, and Biologist of Sea to Shore Alliance Dr. James “Buddy” Powell has spent over a 40 year career studying and working to conserve manatees around the world. Dr. Powell began his love for marine mammals here in Citrus County while working with Daniel “Woodie” Hartman and Jacques Cousteau in the late 1960s and early 1970s in Crystal River. This program and discussion will explore a lifetime of man and manatees interactions and impacts. “I’ve always believed that when the marine environment is healthy, the health of humans benefits – from the fish we eat to the waters our children play in.” – JAMES A. POWELL, PhD; Executive Director, Pew Fellow in Marine Conservation
