Colombia Literaria: Identidad, Paz y Cultura

A panel of award-winning Colombian authors explore the impact of literature on Columbia’s path to peace and discuss immigration, cultural identity, and assimilation through their works as part of Broward County Library’s NEA Big Read 2023. Registration for this program is not required. Admission is free.

Elvira Sanchez-Blake is a journalist and writer. She obtained a Ph.D. in Hispanic Literature and Latin American Studies at Cornell University. Gloria Munoz is a Colombian American writer, literary translator, and advocate for multilingual literacy. Her poetry collection Dawn’s Early/ Danzirly was awarded the Academy of American Poets 2019 Ambroggio Award. Laura Quintana is an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the Universidad de los Andes (Bogota- Columbia). Pilar Quintana is a Columbian writer who attended the International Writing Program of the University of Iowa as a writer-in-residence.

NEA Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest. This program is a partnership between Florida Humanities and Broward County Library Foundation. Funding for this program was provided by Florida Humanities and sponsored in part by the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Arts and Culture, the Florida Council on Arts and Culture, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
