Creative Saint Augustine: Enlightened Artist Pepi Herrmann and the Marvels of American Brilliant Cut Glass

Pepi Herrmann, one of the United States’ most recognized contemporary master crystal cutters joins Lightner Museum exhibitions leader, Alison Schaeffler-Murphy, in an engaging presentation about the marvels of American Brilliant Cut Glass. Ms. Schaeffler-Murphy will begin with a discussion of the historical prominence of the Gilded Age’s Brilliant Period from 1890 – 1915. Following this introduction, artisan Pepi Herrmann will share his fascianation with the lost art form explaining the techniques in creating cut glass and why he considered the medium fascinating enough to change the course of his life. Pepi Herrmann has been creating hand cut crystal masterpieces since 1974. As one of only a handful of master crystal cutters in the United States, he has devoted his career to reviving the lost art of Brilliant cut crystal.
Following the lecture, guests will enjoy an exclusive walk through of Lightner Museum’s newly opened American Brilliant Cut Glass exhibition gallery.
