Finger Mullet Film Festival

May 18 @ 5:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Finger Mullet Film Festival

The Crisp-Ellert Art Museum (CEAM) and Flagler College are hosting the Second Annual Finger Mullet Film Festival to be held at the museum Thursday, May 18 through Saturday, May 20. The festival kicks off on May 18 with a screening of short video works by New York-based visual artists Ilana Harris-Babou, followed by a panel discussion with the artist, Dr. Lori Lee, Kenand Distinguished Professor of Liberal Education in Anthropology, and Dr. Nicholas Miller, Assistant Professor of History, Flagler College.

In Reparation Hardware (2018) , Red Sourcebook (2018) , and Human Design (2019) , Harris-Babou speaks to issues such as reparations for African American descendants of enslaved people, the history and current effects of red-lining, and cultural appropriation. The panel discussion places Harris-Babou’s work in a historical context and prompt discussion about broader issues of race and the cultural appropriation of marginalized cultures.

Finger Mullet Film Festival is dedicated to nurturing an experimental art and film culture in St. Augustine by providing an inspired platform of the best national and international short films alongside a burgeoning local and regional culture of time-based creators and storytellers. This year’s festival brings together film and video shorts by regional, national, and international artists and filmmakers.
