January 15 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Venue:Lincolnville Museum and Cultural Center
102 Martin Luther King Ave
St. Augustine, FL 32084
Join the Florida Humanities Council for our new walking tour honoring Lincolnville’s civil rights heroes from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday (Jan. 15) at the Lincolnville Museum and Cultural Center.
The 10-stop, self-guided walk also recalls Dr. Martin Luther King’s work to promote civil justice in St. Augustine. Lincolnville, a historic African American neighborhood in the city, furnished many activists who helped King.
Keynote speaker is award-winning author and civil rights activist Rodney L. Hurst Sr. Hurst was among the leaders of the lunch-counter sit-in protests of the 1960s. He also served two terms on the Jacksonville City Council and has received a number of humanitarian awards for his civil rights work.
The event is sponsored by the Florida Humanities Council and the St. John’s County Tourist Development Commission, with special thanks to the Lincolnville Museum and Cultural Center.
