Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park: Where Legend Meets History
January 25, 2020 @ 10:00 am

How did factual history of Ponce de Leon and complete mythology of a fountain of youth become so indelibly entangled that 500 years later we still can’t mention one without thinking of the other?
In his newest book, “The Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park: Where Legend Meets History,” Dr. Roger Smith dives into this historical quandary to address this and other treasures at the Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park in St. Augustine. If you haven’t been in a while, you will want to hear this talk!
Dr. Roger Smith is a published historian with a Master’s Degree in the field of American History, and a Ph.D. in Early American History and Atlantic World Studies from the University of Florida. Dr. Smith’s goal is to bring the newest historical research to a general audience through entertaining speaking engagements, publications, stage performances – all while continuing his research into untold stories and history concerning the American Revolution.
This event is funded in part by a Florida Humanities Community Project Grant, in partnership with the Ormond Beach Historical Society.
