Program Description:

Join Gadsden Arts Center & Museum Curator Angie Barry to learn about quilting traditions developed America over the past two centuries and how these traditions are shared in the Gadsden Arts exhibition, “From the Cedar Chest: Generations of Southern Quilting, 1830s to Today.” Learn the personal stories behind the quilts and explore patterns passed down through generations of families from the Big Bend region of North Florida. From the Cedar Chest: Generations of Southern Quilting, 1830s to Today presents an exploration of the rich tradition of quilting in our community, beginning 200 years ago. Quilts represent multiple generations, cultures, and traditions from the area, and ultimately, the way they come together through the beloved art of quilting. Borrowed from public and private collections, these quilts represent traditions in Florida’s Big Bend Region, from antique to modern quilts.
