HABs in the IRL

January 16, 2020 @ 6:30 pm

Indian River Lagoon

The Manatee Observation and Education Center (MOEC) was established in 1996 to promote understanding and responsible actions for the protection of the Treasure Coast’s fragile ecosystems and their inhabitants. As part of a program funded in part by Florida Humanities, MOEC will host Dr. James Sullivan, Executive Director of Florida Atlantic University’s Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute, to present “HABs in the IRL.” The occurrence of harmful algal blooms is on the rise across the country threatening human health and the health of ecosystems. Join MOEC to learn what causes these toxic blooms and what can be done to prevent them. This program is part of the Eco Evenings speaker series. Each evening begins with a social at 6:30pm followed by a presentation at 7:00pm.
