Hurricane!

July 18 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Study major events in Florida history, and there’s a good chance a hurricane was involved. Learn how these amazing but devastating weather machines work and how they have affected Florida, with a special focus on the great 1928 storm, the subject of the award-winning book Black Cloud.

Eliot Kleinberg spent more than four decades as a reporter, including more than 33 years at The Palm Beach Post. In addition to covering local news, he wrote extensively about Florida and its history. He produced two history columns and more than a dozen books about the state. He also runs a blog on bad writing and how to fix it called Something Went Horribly Wrong.

The main entrance of the library is accessible from the library parking lot at Call Street and Duval. Accessible parking spaces, ramp, elevator, and entrance are available from the library parking lot at Call Street and Duval. This Florida Talks program is a partnership between Florida Humanities and the LeRoy Collins Leon County Public Library.
