I Lived Here As Well: A Woman’s Story Tour

January 15, 2022 @ 10:00 am

The Ximenez-Fatio House Museum has organized “I Lived Here, As Well: A Woman’s Story,” a first-person interpretative tour of the historic house. On this tour, stories of every-day life in the 1800s will be presented by the women who may have spent their entire lives in this house, yet never used the front door. Guests will be introduced to several women whose lives were restricted due to the color of their skin. Some are enslaved, yet some are free. Some have hopes for freedom and some see no hope at all. The program will include stories and accounts not heard during the traditional museum tour and guests will also have access to the newly opened Servants Hall exhibit. The tour is led by costumed historical actors and lasts approximately 60 minutes.

The tour is open to the public, but registration is required. “I Lived Here, As Well: A Woman’s Story” tours are held at 10AM on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Please contact the organizer to learn about admission discounts. Funding is provided in part through a Florida Humanities Community Project Grant in partnership with the Ximenez-Fatio House Museum.
