Starting at the City Gates of St. Augustine, the 400-year-old Christmas tradition of “Las Posadas” continues. Lamps and candles are lit, period Christmas music is played, and Florida Living History, Inc.’s (FLH’s), procession marches through the Ancient City, stopping at “Posadas” (“lodgings” or “inns”), where they will meet townspeople of San Agustin, circa 1580. At each stop, another holiday tradition of 16th-century Spanish Florida will be explained, drawing the public deeper into the celebration. The procession ends with a traditional Spanish holiday performance by FLH’s Theater with a Mission group.
