Midtown Through Our Eyes: Opening Reception

January 12 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Journeys in Journalism, a K-12 program of the Pinellas County Schools, presents highlights of the students’ fall 2023 work, emphasizing photojournalism centered on the students’ schools and the community, news and sports events, and a special project covering the redevelopment of the former Gas Plant neighborhood of south St. Petersburg. The exhibits’ opening reception is Friday, January 12 at Studio@620 in St. Petersburg. The exhibit is on view through February 4. The Poytner Institute hosts a panel discussion with participating students and teachers from Melrose Elementary, John Hopkins Middle, and Lakewood High about their projects and experience in photojournalism.

No fee to attend but donations are welcome for the Journeys in Journalism program.

The exhibit and related programming are funded in part through a Florida Humanities Broadcasting Hope Media Grant with funds from the National Endowment for the Humanities, in partnership with the Poynter Institute. Any views, findings, conclusions, or recommendations expressed in this program do not necessarily represent those of Florida Humanities or the National Endowment for the Humanities.
