Modern History of Folk Music from the 60s – Part 4
October 8, 2022 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Florida International University is hosting a lecture series in collaboration with Brockway Memorial Library. This lecture is the fourth in a 4-part series titled: Modern History of Folk Music from the 60s. The 1960s took folk music to another level. It was no longer simply a means to pass along traditional folklore, but rather a new genre to go mainstream. While the history of folk music can be traced back hundreds of years, this session will focus on popular folk music from the 1960 to the present time.
This session is the last of four in a series; however, it is not necessary to attend all four Saturdays. Each session may be attended individually. Registration is required. This program is funded in part through a Florida Humanities Greater Good: Humanities in Academia in partnership with Florida International University.
