“Once Upon a Time in Florida:” Book Tour, Panel Four

March 15 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am

Join Florida Humanities and Sarasota County Library to celebrate the release of Once Upon a Time in Florida: Stories of Life in the Land of Promises . The new book marks Florida Humanities’ 50th anniversary with a collection of 50 timeless stories from FORUM, the award-winning magazine of Florida Humanities. As part of a statewide book tour, Jacki Levine, the anthology’s editor, reunites with scholars and writers whose stories were selected to appear in this richly-illustrated coffee table book. At the fourth stop in Sarasota, the conversation will center around Florida as a state of inspiration. Panelists will explore how Florida has been a muse for great literary and artistic minds, as well as what it means to write engaging historic stories for a modern audience.

Registration is requested. A reception of coffee, tea, and light snacks will precede the program at 10 a.m. Books will be available for purchase as well as book signings from the panelists. Parking at the Selby Public Library is city-run and there is a two-hour limit.

This program is co-sponsored by the Sarasota County Library and Florida Humanities. Marketing funding support for Florida Humanities, Florida Humanities Center for the Book’s Anthology Book Tour are provided through an Institute of Museum and Library Services National Book Festival award to the Friends of the State Library and Archives of Florida Inc.
