ReadOUT 2024: Fiction Panel

Authors Kristen Arnett, Jeffrey Dale, and José Iriarte discuss their works in this panel. Kristen Arnett is the queer author of With Teeth: A Novel (Riverhead Books, 2021) which was a finalist for the Lambda Literary Award in fiction and the New York Times bestselling debut novel Mostly Dead Things (Tin House, 2019) which was also a finalist for the Lambda Literary Award in fiction and was shortlisted for the VCU Cabell First Novelist Award. Jeffrey Dale Lofton hails from Warm Springs, Georgia, best known as the home of Roosevelt’s Little White House. He calls the nation’s capital home now and has for over three decades. He is a senior advisor at the Library of Congress where he is surrounded by books and people who love books-in short, paradise. He is a contributing editor for WELL READ Magazine and co-host of the Inside Voices podcast alongside author Robert Gwaltney. Jose is a Cuban-American nonbinary author of short fiction published in major magazines including Strange Horizons, Lightspeed, and Uncanny, and an upcoming middle grade novel from Penguin/Random House.

Admission is $10 for both days with reduced and free admission available. Parking is available onsite and on the street. Meals are not provided as part of the festival but food options are available to purchase onsite and at nearby restaurants. Onsite book sales and author signings will occur both days.

The LGBTQ Resource Center of Gulfport presents the seventh annual ReadOUT LGBTQ Literature Festival on February 16-18, 2024. The LGBTQ Resource Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that is committed to promoting the awareness of the experiences, contributions, and needs of people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and/or queer.

Funding is provided in part through a Florida Humanities Book Festival Grant with funds from the National Endowment for the Humanities and in partnership with the LGBTQ Resource Center of Gulfport.
