ReadOUT 2024: Horror and Paranormal Panel

February 17 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Authors Kayla Upadhyaya, Cathy Pegau, and Elle Ire discuss their works of horror and paranormal literature. Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya is a lesbian writer of essays, short stories, and pop culture criticism living in Orlando. She is the author of Helen House, a queer horror novelette. She is the managing editor of Autostraddle and the assistant managing editor at TriQuarterly. Cathy Pegau (she/her) is an award-winning author who dabbles in a range of genres, and you can always find women who are strong, determined, and vulnerable for the right person starring in her stories, as well as queer characters finding love and family. Cathy’s novel The Demon Equilibrium (Bywater Books, 2021) dialed her into a love of writing historical paranormal romances that will next be seen in her book Blood Remains (Bywater Books, May 2024). Elle Ire writes paranormal and science fiction romance featuring kickass women who fall in love with each other. She has released nine novels through DSP Publications including the Goldie Award finalist Reel to Reel Love and the Goldie Award winner Dead Woman’s Pond, which was also first runner-up for the Florida Writers Association Book of the Year and a winner of the gold Royal Palm Literary Award.

Admission is $10 for both days with reduced and free admission available. Parking is available onsite and on the street. Meals are not provided as part of the festival but food options are available to purchase onsite and at nearby restaurants. Onsite book sales and author signings will occur both days.

The LGBTQ Resource Center of Gulfport presents the seventh annual ReadOUT LGBTQ Literature Festival on February 16-18, 2024. The LGBTQ Resource Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that is committed to promoting the awareness of the experiences, contributions, and needs of people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and/or queer.
