ReadOUT 2024: Romance Panel

February 17 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Romance authors and readers Macon Leigh, JJ Arias, Melina McKay, Nan Campbell, and Stephanie Shea discuss their works. Macon Leigh is a romance evangelist, writer, co-host of Strictly Sapphic, and person who is usually reading. She lives in Arkansas where she runs a summer camp when she isn’t reading, writing, or playing outside. JJ Arias, an Amazon best-selling author and proud Cuban-American from Miami, infuses her narratives with the vibrancy of her heritage and the warmth of her home city. Originally a fan fiction writer, JJ transitioned to original stories to better represent the LGBTQ+ community. Milena McKay is a Lambda Literary and Golden Crown Literary Society award-winning sapphic fiction author. Milena is a romance fanatic, currently splitting her time between trying to write a novel and succumbing to the temptation of reading another fanfic story. Nan Campbell’s debut novel, The Rules of Forever, is a Lambda Literary Award winner for Lesbian Romance. Stephanie Shea is a writer of sapphic contemporary romance and young adult novels. She is currently signed with indie publisher NineStar Press with whom she published her debut contemporary romance Liquid Courage in November 2020.

Admission is $10 for both days with reduced and free admission available. Parking is available onsite and on the street. Meals are not provided as part of the festival but food options are available to purchase onsite and at nearby restaurants. Onsite book sales and author signings will occur both days.

The LGBTQ Resource Center of Gulfport presents the seventh annual ReadOUT LGBTQ Literature Festival on February 16-18, 2024. The LGBTQ Resource Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that is committed to promoting the awareness of the experiences, contributions, and needs of people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and/or queer.

Funding is provided in part through a Florida Humanities Book Festival Grant with funds from the National Endowment for the Humanities and in partnership with the LGBTQ Resource Center of Gulfport. Any views, findings, conclusions or recommendations expressed in this program do not necessarily represent those of Florida Humanities or the National Endowment for the Humanities.
