ReadOUT 2024: Sci-Fi Panel

January 18 @ 9:00 am

Authors K. Aten, Virginia Black, and SW Andersen participate in a panel discussion all about their sci-fi fiction. Award-winning author and Michigan native, K. Aten brings heroines to life in a variety of blended LGBTQ fiction genres. She specializes in romantic speculative fiction, focusing on extra-ordinary women who are as flawed as they are compelling. Kelly published her 15th novel in 2023 with Flashpoint Publications. Virginia Black (she/her) likes strong whiskey, loud music, and writing, though not necessarily in that order. When not penning dark speculative fiction, she is almost always reading, painting miniatures, or escaping into a role-playing game. Born in California, Virginia escaped to the green grass and rain showers of the Pacific Northwest. From Old West gunslingers to a love that transcends time and space, S.W. Andersen writes sapphic romances where love knows no bounds. S.W. is the author of seven books, including the best-selling romances, Love By Design and Switchback. She and her wife and best friend of twenty-six years share ten acres in rural Florida with a rambunctious crew of dogs, cats and horses.

Admission is $10 for both days with reduced and free admission available. Parking is available onsite and on the street. Meals are not provided as part of the festival but food options are available to purchase onsite and at nearby restaurants. Onsite book sales and author signings will occur both days.

The LGBTQ Resource Center of Gulfport presents the seventh annual ReadOUT LGBTQ Literature Festival on February 16-18, 2024. The LGBTQ Resource Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that is committed to promoting the awareness of the experiences, contributions, and needs of people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and/or queer.

Funding is provided in part through a Florida Humanities Book Festival Grant with funds from the National Endowment for the Humanities and in partnership with the LGBTQ Resource Center of Gulfport. Any views, findings, conclusions or recommendations expressed in this program do not necessarily represent those of Florida Humanities or the National Endowment for the Humanities.
