Reimagining Emancipation: From the U.S. to the West Indies

The Island SPACE Caribbean Museum hosts a hybrid panel discussion — including both African-American and Caribbean perspectives — on how the country has evolved since slavery, contemporary positions on equity and equality, and how collective experiences can improve. Panelists include Dr. David Bynes, Dr. Nadine Wedderburn, Derek T. Davis, and Glenn Joseph, moderated by Dr. Rozalia Williams.
Dr. Byrnes serves as the Director for the Office of Social Justice and Inclusion at Florida International University. Dr. Wedderburn is an Associate Professor of Social Science and Public Affairs in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences at State University of New York. Mr. Davis is a writer, history advocate, and storyteller and the manager of Davis Kuumba Arts LLC. Mr. Joseph is the CEO of Munro Enterprises and Munro Associates Group, multidisciplinary consulting firms specializing in government relations and political consulting and management.
This event is free with registration. Parking is available at the northeast Broward Mall lot near Broward Boulevard and University Drive.
