Sacred Waters Exploring the Protection of Florida’s Fluid Landscapes
February 10, 2021 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Join Gadsden Arts, Inc. for a virtual Zoom Presentation with Scholar Victoria Machado. This presentation explores efforts to restore Florida’s waterways. We will investigate the motivations of environmentalists who love and advocate for these water bodies. By focusing on issues related to springs and the Everglades, we will dive into the conversations that arise when Floridians view water as essential to their quality of life.
Victoria Machado became the state organizer for a DC-based NGO in early 2014, focusing on water and food issues. These interests led Victoria back to UF to pursue her PhD in Religion & Nature. In December 2016, she received a graduate certificate in Environmental Education & Communication. Victoria is particularly interested in water issues, environmental education, bioregionalism, environmental justice, and the intersection between religion and environmental activism.
This event is funded through a Florida Humanities Community Project Grant, in partnership with Gadsden Arts. Inc.
