SpeakOut: Intersections of LGBTQ Identity and the Humanities
January 12 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
The LGBTQ Resource Center at the Gulfport Public Library is pleased to present the final dialogue in its 2022-23 SpeakOut series. Beginning in April 2022, individual presentations and audience dialogues have explored intersections of LGBTQ identity and Humanities topics of Aging, Art, Faith, Law and Literature. Events of the past year have highlighted how critically important it is to be able to have informed, mutually respectful discussions of how Humanities topics translate into public life.
This capstone session of SpeakOut is facilitated by Dr. Lillian Dunlap (Executive Director, Your Real Stories) and Leigh Davis (Director of Donor Relations, Pinellas Community Foundation). These two seasoned scholars and community leaders will recap key themes and questions that have emerged from the previous months’ dialogues on LGBTQ Identity and the Humanities. What has been learned from the individual programs? What questions have arisen in each dialogue – and across these discussions of the Humanities and LGBTQ identity? How do we move forward to expand dialogues on these sometimes difficult topics? All are welcome and encouraged to make sure their voices are heard.
Registration is required if you plan to attend via Zoom, and it is kindly requested if you plan to attend on-site. Parking at the Gulfport Library is free, as is the event. This program is funded in part through a Florida Humanities Community Project Grantin partnership with the Gulfport Public Library.
