The Sound of the Sea: Author Talk with Cynthia Barnett

Environmental author Cynthia Barnett in the light-filled office where she wrote The Sound of the Sea, her arm resting on the four books she has authored. The first three dealt with fresh water issues; this one “really completes the hydrologic cycle for me,” Barnett says.

Join us for an author talk and book signing with acclaimed environmental author, Cynthia Barnett. She will discuss her new book, The Sound of the Sea: Seashells and the Fate of the Oceans, a compelling history of seashells and the animals that make them, revealing what they have to tell us about nature, our changing oceans, and ourselves. This award-winning author teaches environmental journalism at the University of Florida’s College of Journalism and Communications. Her books will be available for purchase and signing after the talk. Registration is required. Attend in-person or virtually. This program is a partnership between Florida Humanities and the Boca Raton Public Library.

Funding for this program was provided by Florida Humanities and sponsored in part by the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Arts and Culture, and the Florida Council on Arts and Culture.
