Voices from Florida: Documenting Miami’s Incorporations

September 22 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Miami-Dade Public Library System presents the third program in the Voices From Florida speaker series. Participants can celebrate the history of Miami with the researchers and producers of Profiles in Black Miami as they delve into the lives of the men who signed the charter to incorporate the City of Miami in 1896. The presenters share their discoveries about these men and how these incorporators contributed to the civic growth of Miami. AnnMarie Henry, Christine Malcolm, and Keith Moore are the team of researchers and producers who created Profiles in Black Miami to tell the story of the people of the African diaspora who built Miami from the mid-19th century to the present day in a series of documentaries.

Registration is required to attend. A Zoom link will be emailed to registrants within 24 hours of the event start time. For more information, contact Special Collections at 305-375-5572 or [email protected].

Funding for this speaker series is provided in part through a Florida Humanities Community Project Grant with funds from the National Endowment for the Humanities and in partnership with Miami-Dade Public Library System. Any views, findings, conclusions or recommendations expressed in this program do not necessarily represent those of Florida Humanities or the National Endowment for the Humanities.
