Voices of Immigration – Stories from the Valencia Voices Oral History Program

January 18, 2022 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Materializing Literary Community in Physical & Virtual Spaces

The “Voices of Immigration” is the newest exhibition designed and created by the Humanities Department at Valencia College-Osceola Campus. This exhibition is based on “Valencia Voices,” an oral history project started in 2018 that has been collecting interviews from local Valencia residents with a focus on the impact of immigration in Osceola County. To open the exhibition, the Humanities Department will host a roundtable discussion with four students and staff members of Valencia who are immigrants and who have participated in the Valencia Voices oral history program. They will discuss their immigration and assimilation experiences and their participation in the Valencia Voices oral history project.

The roundtable discussion will be held in Building 1, Room 123 from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 18.

This program is funded in part by a Florida Humanities Community Project Grant in partnership with Valencia College.
