What’s Mine of Wilderness? A Reading and Conversation

May 19, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Virtual Event Virtual Event

Together with guest editor Chad B. Anderson, Burrow Press is hosting a virtual reading and conversation with contributors to the Burrow Press Review’s special issue, “What’s Mine of Wilderness?” Featuring Gardiner Brown, Ariana Francesca, Kyo Padgett, Wilson Peden, Shannon Pulusan & Jane Satterfield, the writers will read poetry and prose from this special issue, discuss aspects of the themes explored in each piece, and engage in audience Q&A.

“What’s Mine of Wilderness?” examines how a person’s relationship with the natural world can make and unmake their cultural, gender, social, sexual, spiritual, and personal identities. The authors of this compilation explore what we, as people, learn about ourselves as we interact with nature; why someone may be drawn and/or repulsed by nature; the freedoms, inspiration, or reprieve that nature offers; and the fears and challenges that nature presents for marginalized bodies, identities, and experiences.

This program is free to attend, but registration is required. Funding for this program is provided in part through a Florida Humanities Community Project Grant in partnership with Burrow Press at Stetson University.
