Word of South Festival of Literature and Music

April 26 - April 28

Word of South Festival of Literature and Music offers two days of free events including author talks, musicians and mu-aushups, pairing musicians and authors together for presentations. This year’s musicians include jazz with a Latin flare, Americana, hip hop, rock, and more. Authors include fiction and nonfiction for all age groups. Featured events include a cookbook author with sample bites, live podcast recordings, and a special panel discussion on Tallahassee’s bicentennial. Some participating authors include Lauren Groff, Jim White, Ginny Myers Sain, Rebecca Renner, and Tananarive Due.

The tenth annual festival kicks off Friday, April 26 at 7:30 PM with The Flaming Lips in the Adderley Ampitheater in Cascades Park. All other events on Saturday, April 27 and Sunday, April 28 are free and open to the public. Parking for all festival events is available in the parking garages and lots around Cascades Park. State garages and lots are free nights and weekends.

Funding is provided in part through a Florida Humanities Book Festival Grant with funds from the National Endowment for the Humanities and in partnership with Florida Litfest, Inc..
