Writing in Florida Prisons
October 20, 2022 @ 2:00 pm - 3:15 pm

The Center for Excellence at Florida International University is hosting a panel discussion to engage the public in a scholarly conversation about prison literacy programs. What are some possible goals for prison courses; is it self-expression or transformation? Do prison literacy courses create opportunities for advocacy and systemic change? Focusing on the non-profit Exchange for Change as a case study, the panel will explore the impacts of writing courses for people incarcerated in South Florida Prisons.
This event is free to attend, but registration is required. The Zoom link will be provided after registration. This program is funded in part through a Florida Humanities Greater Good: Humanities in Academia in partnership with Florida International University.
