“A Place for All People” a Smithsonian Institute Exhibition
January 10 – February 27, 2022
African American Cultural Center and Museum of Florida
The African American Cultural Center and Museum of Florida presents the 2022 Inaugural Exhibition, “The NMAAHC: A Place for All People”. This commemorative poster exhibition will be on view from January 10 – February 27, 2022. Organized by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service in collaboration with the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C., “A Place for All People” highlights key artifacts that tell the rich and diverse story of the African American experience. From the child-size shackles of a slave and the clothing worn by Carlotta Walls on her first day at Little Rock Central High School to Chuck Berry’s Gibson guitar, “Maybellene,” and the track shoes were worn by Olympian Carl Lewis, the exhibition presents a living history that reflects challenge, triumph, faith, and hope. The poster exhibition and related public programs are an opportunity for the African American Cultural Center and Museum of Florida to showcase its work in sharing the many stories of African American and African diaspora people and their contributions to the local community and the American story. In addition, there will be a local display representing the diverse cultures that make up Flagler county.
Admission is free, but donations are always appreciated. This interpretive exhibition is funded in part through a Florida Humanities Community Project Grant in partnership with the African American Cultural Center and Museum of Florida.
