Special Initiatives

The humanities cast a wide net in terms of ideas, disciplines of study, and human experiences to highlight. The Florida Humanities Council recognizes the need to draw special attention within that broad spectrum to those topics or communities that are deserving of enhanced public awareness. Our programs and media are currently focusing on the following three humanities-themed initiatives.

Those that Served

In concert with the National Endowment for the Humanities “Standing Together” initiative, the Florida Humanities Council seeks to give Florida veterans a platform to tell their unique and powerful stories. Our programming makes an effort to close the communication gap between those that have served and those that have not.
