“Florida Foodways: A Taste Through Time” Exhibition Grand Opening

March 26 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The Citrus County Historical Society presents the grand opening of its new exhibit, “Florida Foodways: A Taste through Time,” at the Old Courthouse Heritage Museum.

Join the museum for a coffee and conversation program with James “Boe” Anderson, a fourth-generation Floridian who founded the Olde Mill House Gallery and Printing Museum, which highlights the importance of preserving the history of the letterpress trade in Florida. The connected museum café includes Old and New Florida flavors with a locally revered Ybor City-style Cuban sandwich, Spanish bean soup, black beans and rice, and other favorites. Learn about the Cuban sandwich rivalry between Ybor City and Miami, while taking in the new exhibit documenting local food history.

Bonus: We’ll provide sandwiches to taste and some musical ambience. Please RSVP in advance to join this event by calling the Old Courthouse Heritage Museum at 352-341-6428.

“Florida Foodways: A Taste through Time” is one of seven exhibitions statewide that explore the people, lands and histories that come together to tell the stories of Florida’s shared food experience. Sponsored in part by Florida Humanities, this interactive exhibition is presented by the Citrus County Historical Society in collaboration with the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum on Main Street program.
