Historic Springfield TreeWalks: Integrated Urban Ecology

June 6 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Join Springfield Preservation and Revitalization Council (SPAR) for the first of four Historic Springfield TreeWalks. This engaging community walking tour focuses on Integrated Urban Ecology, examining how trees, parks, streets, buildings, and public spaces function together as part of a larger neighborhood ecosystem.

During this outdoor program, participants will walk through the Springfield Historic District while exploring how planning, landscape design, and environmental systems interact to shape the health and livability of urban communities. Led by certified planner and professional landscape architect Daniel Ashworth, Jr., the tour highlights how thoughtful design can connect natural and built environments to support resilient neighborhoods.

The event is free, with donations accepted. The walking tour will take approximately one hour and participants should be prepared to walk up to 5 miles. Proper footwear, hydration and sun protection are highly recommended. ASL interpretation available.

Registration is encouraged.

Funding for this program was provided through a grant from Florida Humanities with funds from The Mosaic Company. Any views, findings, conclusions or recommendations expressed in this program do not necessarily represent those of Florida Humanities or The Mosaic Company.
