Hurricane!

October 29 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Study major events in Florida history, and there’s a good chance a hurricane was involved.

Learn how these amazing but devastating weather machines work and how they have affected Florida, with a special focus on the great 1928 storm, the subject of Eliot Kleinberg’s award-winning book Black Cloud.

Eliot Kleinberg spent more than four decades as a reporter, including more than 33 years at The Palm Beach Post. In addition to covering local news, he wrote extensively about Florida and its history. He produced two history columns and more than a dozen books about the state. He also runs a blog on bad writing and how to fix it called “Something Went Horribly Wrong.”

This event is hybrid. Registration is suggested, but not required.

Funding for this Florida Talks program is provided in part by Florida Humanities with funds from the National Endowment for the Humanities and in partnership with the Leesburg Public Library.
