Native Plants and Native People

August 1 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Learn about the importance of native plants to Florida’s First People and to us today. Program starts with a tour of Sacred Lands’ newly planted Indigenous Peoples’ Garden followed by guest speakers and presentations on how archeologists know what plants were used by Indigenous peoples for food, shelter and medicine.

The program is free and open to all. Advance registration is required for a free plant giveaway; plants are in limited supply and registration does not guarantee availability.

Special parking information: Parking address is 1700 Park St N. Turn west off Park Street at the JP Tavern and continue to drive west toward the water. Turn left (south) into the gravel parking lot. At the south end of the lot is a fence that demarcates Sacred Lands. There is a large purple sign on the gate.

Funding for this program was provided through a grant from Florida Humanities with funds from The Mosaic Company. Any views, findings, conclusions or recommendations expressed in this program do not necessarily represent those of Florida Humanities or The Mosaic Company.
