Our Enduring Cattle Culture

May 9 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Join the Florida Remembered Society for an engaging program about the rich and colorful heritage of local cattle ranching families. Stories of their successes, labors and lifestyles will be featured along with photographs, tools, objects, and artifacts related to cattle history on the Treasure Coast.

This program is presented as part of “Red, White, and FOOD”, a new exhibition that includes colorful stories, photographs, artifacts, objects, and recipes that document the history of the Treasure Coast through the window of food. The exhibition will be on display from January 24 to December 6, 2026, at the St. Lucie School.

This program is free and open to the public. “Red, White, and FOOD” is one of seven exhibitions statewide that explore the people, lands and histories that come together to tell the stories of Florida’s shared food experience. Sponsored by Florida Humanities with funds from the Jacarlene Foundation, this interactive exhibition is presented by the Florida Remembered Society in collaboration with the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum on Main Street program.
