“UNUM: American Covenant” with Dr. Yuval Levin
June 16 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
As we celebrate the founding of our country 250 years ago and reflect on the past, present and future of the American idea, we invite you to join Florida Humanities and The Village Square for the latest program in our joint digital series, “UNUM: Democracy Reignited.”
For this program, Dr. Yuval Levin turns our attention to the document that charted a path for a new country—the Constitution. Far from being the source of our problems, as has become fashionable to believe, Dr. Levin argues that the Constitution holds the power to save us. Are you wondering how we could possibly act together when we disagree so vehemently? Join us as we meet a scholar who “may be the most important voice in the political culture right now.”
Levin is the director of Social, Cultural, and Constitutional Studies at the American Enterprise Institute, where he also holds the Beth and Ravenel Curry Chair in Public Policy. The founder and editor of National Affairs, he is also a senior editor at The New Atlantis and a contributing editor at National Review.
The program is free to attend via Zoom. Pre-registration is required to receive the program link.
The “UNUM: Democracy Reignited” series is funded in part by the Federation of State Humanities Councils with support from the Mellon Foundation and Florida Humanities. It is also part of “By the People: Conversations Beyond 250”, a series of community-driven programs created by humanities councils in collaboration with local partners. This initiative was developed by the Federation of State Humanities Councils and the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage. Any views, findings, conclusions or recommendations expressed in this program do not necessarily represent those of Florida Humanities or its partnering organizations.
