“UNUM: The Pursuit of Liberty” with Jeffrey Rosen
March 2 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
As we celebrate the founding of our country 250 years ago and reflect on the past, present and future of the American idea, we invite you to join Florida Humanities and The Village Square for the latest program in our joint digital series, “UNUM: Democracy Reignited”.
For this program, Dr. Jeffrey Rosen, CEO Emeritus of the National Constitution Center and the author of numerous books, will explore the tensions, rivalries, and principles that have shaped the American experiment. His most recent book, “The Pursuit of Liberty,” tells the vibrant story of how the tensions in the visions of founders Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton haven’t just endured since the founding-they’ve defined us. Dr. Rosen will be joined in conversation by Steve Seibert, former Executive Director, Florida Humanities.
The program is free to attend via Zoom. Pre-registration is required to receive the program link.
The “UNUM: Democracy Reignited” series is funded in part by the Federation of State Humanities Councils with support from the Mellon Foundation and Florida Humanities. It is also part of “By the People: Conversations Beyond 250,” a series of community-driven programs created by humanities councils in collaboration with local partners. This initiative was developed by the Federation of State Humanities Councils and the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage. Any views, findings, conclusions or recommendations expressed in this program do not necessarily represent those of Florida Humanities or its partnering organizations.
