Watershed Stories Workshop at Jan Platt Library

April 4 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Ever wondered what the “rhythm” of Tampa Bay sounds like? Join acclaimed UN Water Delegate and USF Professor Dr. Heather O’Leary for a hands-on workshop where participants will engage in a multi-sensory exploration of water through sight, touch, and taste. Dr. O’Leary uses a fascinating process called sonification to turn real scientific data about our local waters into music. You’ll hear the “hidden rhythms” of our rivers and wetlands, making the science of our environment approachable, emotional, and fun. Participants will also have an opportunity for their personal water stories to be professionally captured and added to the USF Digital Library, becoming a permanent part of the region’s permanent historical archive. Pre-registration is suggested but not required. Funding for this program was provided through a grant from Florida Humanities with funds from The Mosaic Company. Any views, findings, conclusions or recommendations expressed in this program do not necessarily represent those of Florida Humanities or The Mosaic Company.
